UPSC CMS 2026 Answer Key Update
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted the Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination 2026 on August 2, 2026, across various centers. Candidates who appeared for the exam are eagerly awaiting the official answer key. However, UPSC has a standard procedure of releasing the answer key only after the entire recruitment process, including the personality test and final selection, has been completed.
According to the official timeline, the UPSC CMS 2026 answer key is expected to be released in January 2027. This will happen after the final merit list and cut-offs are declared. Until then, candidates can refer to memory-based answer keys published by various coaching institutes to get an estimate of their scores. These unofficial keys can help in preliminary score assessment, but the official key will be the definitive reference.
The written examination consisted of two computer-based papers, each carrying 250 marks, making a total of 500 marks. Each paper had 120 objective-type multiple-choice questions. For every correct answer, approximately 2.08 marks are awarded, while one-third of the marks for a question are deducted for each incorrect answer. Unanswered questions do not incur any negative marking. Paper I covered General Medicine and Paediatrics, and Paper II included Surgery, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, and Preventive and Social Medicine.
This recruitment drive aims to fill 1,358 vacancies for Medical Officer posts. The written exam results are anticipated in September 2026. Shortlisted candidates will then proceed to submit a Detailed Application Form (DAF) in October, followed by a personality test (interview) in November-December, which carries 100 marks. The final merit list is also expected in January 2027, alongside the official answer key.
