MCC NEET UG 2026 Counselling: Major Reforms Announced
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced significant reforms for the upcoming NEET UG 2026 counselling process. These changes aim to enhance transparency, simplify admissions, and improve accessibility for candidates seeking MBBS and BDS courses. Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda recently reviewed the preparations, emphasizing a seamless, transparent, and technology-enabled counselling process.
Key changes include a one-time physical reporting requirement, streamlining the process by reducing the need for multiple visits. An online document verification system will be implemented, alongside an online resignation facility for candidates. The entire NRI admission process will be digitized, making it more efficient. Furthermore, the number of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) assessment centres has been significantly expanded from 16 to 61, ensuring better access for disabled candidates. Enhanced cybersecurity and grievance redressal mechanisms are also being put in place to ensure a fair and secure admission cycle.
These reforms are expected to reduce the administrative burden on both candidates and institutions, making the NEET UG counselling experience smoother and more equitable.
