UGC NET June 2026 Re-Examination for English, Commerce, and Sociology
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the re-conduct of the UGC NET June 2026 examination for three subjects: English, Commerce, and Sociology. This decision comes after numerous complaints regarding errors in the original papers conducted between June 22 and June 30, 2026.
A committee formed by the NTA found significant factual, typographical, and translation errors, including misspelt names, garbled book titles, and repeated questions. To ensure a fair and error-free examination, the NTA has decided to re-conduct these three papers. Candidates who appeared for these subjects will not be charged any additional examination fee for the re-test.
The re-examination schedule is as follows:
- English: September 9, 2026 (Shift 1 - 9 AM to 12 Noon)
- Commerce: September 9, 2026 (Shift 2 - 3 PM to 6 PM)
- Sociology: September 10, 2026 (Shift 1 - 9 AM to 12 Noon)
Further details regarding city, centre, and admit cards will be released separately on the official NTA websites. The results for the other 84 subjects, for which answer key challenges were issued earlier, will be declared as per the original schedule and will not be delayed due to this re-examination. The allocation of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) seats and e-certificates for Assistant Professor eligibility for these 84 subjects will proceed as planned. For the re-tested subjects, the number of qualified candidates for Assistant Professor eligibility will be 6% of those who appeared in either the June 2026 test or the re-test, whichever is higher.
