NTA SME Empanelment: Continuous Applications Now Accepted
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a significant change regarding the empanelment of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). In a recent corrigendum dated November 7, 2026, NTA has decided to accept applications for SME empanelment on a continuous basis, removing the previous closing date. This move aims to facilitate wider participation from eligible academicians and scientists across the country.
Previously, NTA had issued an Expression of Interest (EoI) on August 10, 2026, which was later updated on September 8, 2026. Now, experts can submit their applications through the online portal without any specific deadline, until further notice. Applications will be evaluated periodically based on NTA's requirements and the prescribed eligibility criteria. It's important to note that submitting an application does not guarantee empanelment or assignment allocation.
Additionally, NTA has introduced new submission requirements, including ten original, unpublished multiple-choice questions with answer keys (Clause 7.4) and a Declaration of Originality (Annexure-I, Section M). These new requirements apply only to applications submitted after the November 7, 2026 corrigendum. All other terms and conditions of the original EoI remain unchanged. Applicants are advised to regularly visit the official NTA website for the latest updates.
