NEET (UG) 2026 Re-Examination: A Collaborative Success

The National Testing Agency (NTA) successfully conducted the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination on June 21, 2026. More than 20 lakh candidates appeared for the exam across 5,440 centres in India and 14 centres abroad. This massive undertaking was a testament to the collaborative efforts of "Team Bharat," involving numerous government agencies and over 7 lakh officials.

The re-examination was administered in 13 languages, including Hindi and English, ensuring accessibility for a diverse student population. Extensive arrangements were made to support all candidates, including over 10,000 Persons with Disabilities and approximately 81 candidates with specific medical conditions, for whom special provisions were made.

Security measures were robust, featuring Aadhaar-based biometric and face authentication, continuous CCTV monitoring, jammers, and a two-layer frisking process supported by State Police. Command and control centres were established at national, state, and district levels to oversee the examination process. The success of the re-exam was a result of coordinated efforts from various ministries, including the Ministry of Education, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Indian Air Force, among others, alongside State Governments and banking partners.

Many State Governments also provided additional support, such as shade, water, food, ambulances, medical facilities, and free transportation for candidates on exam day. This comprehensive approach ensured that every candidate could focus solely on their paper, making the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination a fair and fresh start for all.
