PM-KISAN Scheme Extended Till 2030-31
The Union Cabinet has approved the extension of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme for another five years, from 2026-27 to 2030-31. This decision, announced on July 31, 2026, aims to continue providing crucial financial support to eligible farmer families across the nation. A total financial outlay of ₹3.15 trillion has been sanctioned for this extended period, reaffirming the government's commitment to farmer welfare.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, which was launched in February 2019, eligible landholding farmer families receive a direct financial assistance of ₹6,000 per year. This amount is disbursed in three equal installments directly into their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. So far, approximately ₹4.5 lakh crore has been disbursed under the scheme, significantly aiding farmers in managing their agricultural expenses and improving their livelihoods.
The extension is expected to further enhance farmers' capacity to invest in agriculture, boost productivity, mitigate agricultural risks, and strengthen the overall rural economy. This timely and transparent income support mechanism plays a vital role in ensuring the prosperity of farmers, which is considered the foundation of the nation's prosperity.
