Central Sector Scholarship 2026: Apply Online
The Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships (CSSS) for College and University Students is now accepting applications for the academic year 2026-27. This significant government scholarship, managed by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, aims to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections across India.
Students who have passed Class 12 with marks above the 80th percentile in their respective board and stream are eligible to apply. The scholarship provides substantial financial assistance, with ₹12,000 per annum for undergraduate courses and ₹20,000 per annum for postgraduate or professional courses in their later years. This direct benefit transfer (DBT) helps students cover their educational expenses.
The application process is entirely online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). It is crucial for all applicants to complete a One Time Registration (OTR) on the NSP, which generates a unique 14-digit OTR number linked to their Aadhaar. This OTR number is valid for their entire academic career, simplifying future applications and renewals. Ensure all required documents, including your Aadhaar-linked bank account and income certificate, are ready before applying.
